About the Site

YellowRobe.com was formerly known as Buddha Sasana Online, which was established in 2003. After the site has been closed for 2 years, it is re-opening in 2006. The reason it was shut down was because I could not spare time to maintain the website at the time.

The site's mission is to bring True Buddhism to Internet and the rest of the world at this chaotic age.

Following the true teachings of the Buddha, may all the people find the right way to happiness!

About the Author

My name is Yi-Lei Wu. I have been studying Buddhism for 6 years, including Mahayana, Zen, Pure Land, Theravada, etc. I was trained in the Mahasi Meditation Center in Yangon, Burma as a temporary monk for 3 months, and ever since then I came to realize what is TRUE Buddhism.

I grieve that I couldn't find the right path until I came in touch with Ven. Mahasi Sayadaw's guidances, and I rejoice at my Vipassana practices.

I encourage every Buddhist to practice Vipassana, as this is the only way to realize the Buddha's teaching within one's own experience.

Reading books and reciting the canons are not direct personal experiences of the Buddha's teaching. One must practice Vipassana (and realize the Eightfold Noble's Path) to fully appreciate the dhamma, and this is the same for everyone.

I wish to donate this website to everyone in the world, and help them achieve greater spirituality in the right direction.

May all beings be happy!

Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!

Hi, I have browsed through this website generally. I find this website informative but this site still is NOT enough i.e. very good but still have a lot of information need to be put in. Before the maha-parinibbana of Buddha Gotama, there were no split into different schools. To split and to simply interpret the Buddha's teachings (including the Vinaya Pitaka and Sutta Pitaka) according to one's own wishes instead of following the actual meaning of the Buddha's teachings is a great disgrace. Not only is it a disgrace, also, an evil act for because of that, many people get confused between what is real and true teachings of the Buddha and that which is NOT, thus, not able to achieve the intended goal. Even myself when I was small, I came to think that true Buddhist must be vegetarian, this and that, until, perhaps fate had brought it, or perhaps something else, as I go along, I came to found many information which I did not know. We should not alter the Buddha's teachings and that which he has established for the benefit of all. I strongly URGE everyone to return to the original teachings, and not misinterpret the true teachings. Next would be my feedback and suggestions on this site. To you dear site owner, many thanks for your efforts. I would like to recommend that this site have more information. If it is possible, allocate an area for the Sutta Pitaka and vinaya pitaka i.e. upload all the sutta pitaka and vinaya pitaka in this wonderful website of yours. Thus, with such, those living in regions which does not have much Buddhist influence may be able to access the Buddha's discourses and know about the vinaya. Also, not to forget the dhammapada. Following that, the site should be refurbish to make it more orderly, user friendly, and easily accessible to the intended content. I do understand that you are a busy man, however, thanks to you, I have got a website which I think is good for reference.

May all beings be happy! Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! Thanks for the good wishes, but what is Sadhu! I like your short historical account of the rise of deviant Buddhist groups. No, I am not any Buddhist by any kind of measure and basis. But I have questions like the one below. You say: "I encourage every Buddhist to practice Vipassana, as this is the only way to realize the Buddha's teaching within one's own experience." "...within one's own experience." Is that how you have arrived at the true Buddhism? With all due respect, isn't that criterion what makes so many schools and sects of Buddhism, each claiming to be the true or valid or legitimate form Buddhism? Maybe all Buddhists who do use the name Buddhist should join together into some kind of accreditation body, to agree among themselves on the basis of one man one vote on what are the true original teachings of Buddha. In this manner, first at least you will be able to weed out those who are not willing to join together to form the biggest body -- by withholding accreditation from them; then second, if you who have joined this accreditation body can stick to the rule of majority rules, then you can arrive at some kind of commonality and uniformity in the face of the non-Buddhist segments of mankind. mdejess

Sadhu means good/agreed. Buddhist groups don't need more uniformity what we already has. Macdonals restaurants around the world adapt their menu according to local taste. Diversity is our strength. As long as the core teaching is Buddhist, it is still Buddhism no matter what other day to day cultural aspects may different.
